Workshop - Forging: Bracelets, Brooches, and Rings

by Cynthia Eid on November 10, 2008

I just finished teaching a weekend workshop at Metalwerx, and am very pleased at how much everyone learned and accomplished.  We started with how to hold a hammer, and began by making basic forms in bronze.  Participants then could continue to forge in bronze, or work with Argentium  Sterling Silver.  Demonstrations alternated with working time throughout the two days. Here are some images from the discussion at the end of the workshop.

Here are some comments from other students that were emailed to me:

Thanks everyone, and especially Cynthia, for another Metalwerx Spectacular. My head is still spinning from everything I learned. It was one of the best run AND most fun workshops I’ve done.

I just had a wonderful 2 day workshop at Metalwerx with Cynthia Eid.

I enjoyed the workshop a lot. I’m trying to think of ways to incorporate wires into my work and this really gave me new things to think about.

…this was one of my absolute favorites. It was a perfect weekend, and I really enjoyed meeting all of the students that I hadn’t met before…

A couple more comments, from the workshop evaluation forms that Metalwerx sent me:

A great combination of instruction and work time—flowed quite well.

Good techniques that I’ll be able to incorporate with those I already know.

This was one of the most beneficial workshops I have taken!!! Cindy provided an unbelievable basis for hammering techniques.

These are works after only 2 days of learning? Incredible. It is also a reflection on the teacher. I would love the opportunity to learn from Cynthia. Any chance when you’ll come out west to Revere?

Thanks!
Yep, two days. It was a particularly magical workshop, somehow. The people, and the teaching, all clicked.
Sure, I’d love to teach at Revere again!
